Mentorship project, week 5
Feb. 17th, 2014 11:57 pmToday’s interview was with Nina Kiriki Hoffman, a prolific writer of science fiction, fantasy, and horror for the past 30+ years. Nina is able to work pretty much full-time in the genre, as she also does production work for a literary publication and quite a bit of teaching. D. learned more about agents, publishing company editors, and the challenges of finding places to work outside one’s home when one isn’t a morning person (coffee shop until 6 p.m. and then Barnes & Noble, it sounds like). She gave him a copy of A Stir of Bones, a ghost story set on the Oregon coast, I think, and told us how she furnished the inside of her haunted house by finding a Sears catalog online with all the appropriate appliances.
(Nina is also, bless her, another fully grown woman who likes anime. Yay!)
