No “Benjen,” not today anyway
Dec. 1st, 2013 08:03 pmToday’s big project was yet more post-fire-extinguisher cleaning. This time, I’m trying to get any remaining dust from back then off the bookshelves and floor – mostly areas Lillian didn’t bother going to, or couldn’t due to her weight limitations, but that a kitten could easy access. When we bring a kitten or two into our home, we don’t want them unhappy about washing their darling little kitten-feet.
Eventually D. and I went out to buy a can of compressed air to help with dusting off the books, and we stopped in to the Pet Smart store so D. could get a look at the rescue kitten I’d been admiring, “Benny.” He’s a sleek, black, short-hair about 12 weeks old, and we don’t know much about his personality, other than quite a lot of tolerance about having his brown tabby littermate, “Emma,” chomp repeatedly on his tail. She’d been adopted on Friday or Saturday, but as of yesterday evening, “Benny” was still available. I’d decided if we got him, I’d change his name to “Benjen.” After all, he “wears” black, and it’s the time of year when “winter is coming,” so, why not? But today his sign said “adoption pending.” Oh well. Next time, the house will be ready, and we can better leap on the opportunities.
