D’s birthday party
Aug. 3rd, 2013 11:40 pmThis year instead of having a bunch of kids come over, we held a Magic booster draft in his honor – I supplied the cards and an oreo ice cream cake, and most of our usual group came to J’s to play. Since I’d actually practiced drafting this set online (and it’s a core set, not one of the more complicated blocks), my deck was actually pretty good; D. even said so. J. and I each won a game against each other, then I played D. twice and lost. He then played against T, who was 2-0 and then beat D. too, so we declared T. today’s victor. Then everyone left except the three of us plus C &S, and we tried the Archenemy format, with D. as the Archenemy vs. the four of us as the Heroes. I started off quite strong – five 3-4 slivers and a 4-5 – but D. got a “scheme” that let him wipe out my entire force. It gradually went downhill from there, and with a final scheme named “My Crushing Masterstroke” D. was victorious.
I then rushed him back here to get ready for his Saturday overnight with R, then J. and I went out for Mexican, then I watched three Sinbad episodes in a row to make space on the DVR for tonight’s anime. For some obscure reason, SyFy decided to show all five remaining Sinbad episodes in a single evening. How tired I am now!
