More on my paper, Haidt, etc.
Jun. 4th, 2013 09:38 pmToday I presented my moralization paper to G’s lab group (and in the process of preparing I changed one of my two figures to something much more nifty and useful). People seemed quite positive about it, and we had some interesting discussions, except for the Chinese grad student who didn’t think vegetarianism was a moral issue. Maybe it’s not, in China? It certainly is in the “West.”
G. thinks I should restructure the paper, and that’s what I’ll be considering next.
Several people in the lab had attended (in person or virtually) at least one of Haidt’s two talks in Oregon last week. I was amused by the RA’s impression that it all sounded like Anthropology 101 to her. The general consensus is that Haidt is trying to position himself to become a political commentator.
