The Monday update
Aug. 6th, 2012 10:42 pmUpdate on yesterday’s post – turns out that J’s dad does have equipment on Curiosity after all. He designed the electronics for the tunable laser spectrometer. From what I’ve heard about the Curiosity mission, looking for the presence of various elements in the soil, that sounds like a key piece of technology. Very cool!
On Saturday, D. downloaded Mario Party 2, which is basically a board game played on a console, and now he wants me to play it with him every day. It’s fun, but having a 1.5-hr chunk of my day now devoted to video games takes some adjustment. Maybe I’ll figure out how to be more efficient with work?
I think a wildfire near Bend (100 miles east of here, beyond the mountains) is making me stuffy and a bit sneezy. Seems like a stretch, but it’s also coating the windshield of my car with fine particulates. We’re probably weeks away from rain, too, oh well.
