On watching Enter the Dragon for the first time

Furniture upgrade!

Today was the big day of Renting A Truck. We’ve been planning this for, like, eight months. The idea was to combine J’s move from his old house into his apartment with my retrieval of a bunch of furniture from my mom’s house, which would include lending a bunch of it to him. So, whew, we did it. He went to rent the truck and pick up a friend to help, while I went to my mom’s house and hauled all the relevant furniture into the carport. The hardest part was figuring out how to get the extra leaf out of the dining table, but after studying it for ages I managed to do it. R. appeared in the middle of the process to use the Internet there, and I helped him put a large, unwieldy desk into his truck too. Then I sat around reading some book of my mom’s about the earliest days of ancient Egypt until J. and his friend arrived and we loaded up the moving van. Then we unloaded a bunch here, then they went to J’s apartment while I showered and retrieved D, and then we went back to my mom’s for the rest of the furniture.

So now I have a cedar chest, a nice oak dining table with chairs, and a third file cabinet. Other than the dining table, it’s all waiting in the middle of the livingroom until tomorrow. Lillian loves her new cedar throne.

Then, finally, shopping + spaghetti dinner + part one of the American Ninja Warrior finals + swimming with D. in the too-crowded pool. Now, as soon as I’ve watered my plants (91̊ today!), I get to relax...
