Bah humbug
May. 4th, 2012 10:46 pmI was afraid this would happen – too much exercise back-to-back on Tuesday and Wednesday, and now I’m sick, some stomach bug I guess. Plus my head is a bit fuzzy, so my judgment is off – not only did I walk all over downtown to return a library book and pay a bill, but I also got the notion to take back an Irresponsible Captain Tylor DVD by foot, instead of returning to my car and driving there sensibly. So I walked over 13 blocks before asking J. to come rescue me. Then instead of lying down and resting, I went to my mom’s house and brought back the frame for a twin bed for my guest room. Silly silly silly.
Also at my mom’s, I picked up an oil painting that my parents had bought in San Francisco, probably around 1970. It’s in browns, a view out a window of a girl on the beach with a yellow kite. I don’t own much original art, other than watercolors bought direct from the artist and the like, so I was interested to look at the back of this one. I learned that it’s by Anne Rugh Baker, a California-based artist, and it cost $135 at the time. From what I can see of her auction history, it’s probably not worth any more now. No matter.
I did get some work done – I filled out a worksheet to calculate G’s current salary, and I made a bunch of tables of metanarratives that sub-groups within my samples agreed or disagreed with more than the full groups.
