Dr. Shiva; middle schools

Vandana Shiva was very cool, and it was really extraordinary to get to see her in an interactive gathering of about 55 people, rather than in a crowded lecture hall of hundreds and hundreds. I think I’m too tired to post details now, though. She seems to have a warm personality, a sharp mind, and a good sense of proportion, and unlike many public intellectuals, she seems above all immensely practical. I think I will add “food justice” to my LJ interest list.

Also, yesterday and today I visited both of the nearby middle schools for their “school choice” presentations. The one that’s walking distance from our house is seems to be perfectly fine, and the other also has some very nice features.
