Day 1014: A massive project

(This is nothing like moving house or getting new carpeting or anything truly massive, but it's still a lot of work for wussy me!)
So, back in August I got all those bookcases from my office, and today was finally the day when I started the project of moving two of them into my hallway (they're waiting in J's garage). The complication is that I already have three whole file cabinets in the hallway, one from my late step-dad, one I've had for a very long time, and one that's a lateral design and broken, such that I can't shut the bottom drawer, which means I can't open the other three drawers. And they all have lots of stuff piled on top of them.
So, today I... put all the papers from Arnold's cabinet into boxes, then dragged a small wooden cabinet-with-shelves out of the kittens' bedroom and dragged the file cabinet into that space, then changed a hall light bulb so old that it said "60W" on top, then cleared all the stuff off the top of the others, then cleared away stuff I was storing on the floor, then vacuumed. Whew! That all took hours.
Tomorrow I should move all the files from the other regular cabinet into Arnold's, then figure out how to open the lateral one and box up all the papers, then come up with a plan on where to put those two cabinets and do that, then vacuum it all again, and ideally use the stud finder to figure out about earthquake stabilization. Then bring the two bookcases in!
Of course, I'll still need to figure out what to do with all the stuff I "cleared away," since it's still in my livingroom, mostly. And I should go through quite a few of those papers I've boxed up...
