When one door closes?

I got notified today that I’m not being invited to do the full submission for the grant proposal I’d worked on in September and October. I know I ought to feel disappointed, and definitely I don’t know what else I’m going to do for funding this summer, but my main response was relief. Now I don’t have to conduct the pilot study I’d said I’d do this winter (on my own time), nor do I have to invest a lot of energy into this proposal between now and March. The fewer the commitments, the better! I can focus on my dissertation. I just need to apply for NIH grants at every opportunity until one gets funded.
