In other cat news, it was somewhat alarming to read in the morning's paper that there are at least three cougars (!!!) living within two miles of my house, in the forest on Spencer Butte. A couple of undergrads went for a pre-dawn hike on Tuesday and had to back down the trail while the growling big cats stalked them for like six minutes! We're told it's safe enough in the day, but still.
