Pascal Boyer
Feb. 17th, 2010 11:05 pmThis evening I went to a talk by Pascal Boyer, one of the most prominent experts in the cognitive psychology of religion. His thing is that the major aspects of religion as popular cultural movements (that is, once they get going) are by-products of other functional adaptations. I particularly liked that he was interested in explaining religion, not "debunking" it. I was also surprised by his good sense of humor and his Monty Python impression.
