Basketball Jones...

Today was all about the basketball. First I bought D. a new one (his old one was flat; what we really need is a pump, since the new one is also flat), and he and I took it to the nearest school so he could practice his shots. Of course it was raining, but we're Oregonians. Later came the official team photo session, then an hour to spend before his own game. It turned out that his school's fourth-grade girls were playing in the same building, so we all went to watch. When the girls noticed their fourth-grade boys team was watching... you can imagine. (I also walked over to buy a pump at Bi-Mart, but they were closed.) Finally came D's own game, vs. Clear Lake, a west Eugene school. He played with extra energy and focus today, even trying fiercely for rebounds, despite being the shortest one on the court. They led for most of the first half but ended up losing, 29-11. Still fun to watch, though.
