My ability to celebrate conscientiously!

The new UO president, Richard Lariviere, is pleased that the annual Halloween riots west of campus were more muted than usual this year, even with the huge football victory over USC a few hours earlier. He just sent us all a thank-you e-mail:

"During Halloween night, the vast majority of UO students enjoyed themselves responsibly and respectfully. I commend those of you who made positive decisions. Speculation about what could happen with a full moon, national media attention focused on our community and unseasonably dry weather didn’t take into account the caliber of your character and your ability to celebrate conscientiously."

I'd credit all the extra cops, myself.

I renewed my driver's license at the DMV today. I took the scenic route. The wait was really short. Now I'm set for the next 8 years.
