King of the Hill party
Sep. 15th, 2009 08:51 pmWe've had fun with King of the Hill over the years, and tonight we honored the final episode of the show with our own private King of the Hill party. First, R. and I had steak and potatoes for dinner; D. had macaroni and cheese. These seemed like suitable foods, especially if we imagined the steak had been grilled with propane (and propane accessories). If I'd planned ahead, I would have baked an Apple Brown Peggy. Then (D's idea) we dressed for the parts: R. in a near-white t-shirt like Hank, D. in a blue pullover shirt like Bobby, and me in a sleeveless green blouse, like Peggy. Thor represented Ladybird as is.
Next we watched the final episode - and during the opening credits, when they popped open their cans of Alamo beer, we popped open our own cans (soda). We feasted on nacho Doritos and barbecue Pringles. The episode was a sweet conclusion to the show, with Hank and Bobby finally finding something they have in common.
Today was busy and tiring, but there were other high points, like standing only ten feet or so from a great blue heron at Amazon Creek near Chambers Street, and eating half a basket of deliciously ripe strawberries while driving home from a farm stand near 28th and Friendly.
