The really aggravating thing about my mom's memory issues is that she can learn new things when she's motivated to do so, but can't at all otherwise. Thus she's quite aware that I've got her car parked in my driveway (details here), but is completely failing to take in the information that she's not allowed to drive it, and that we're not bringing it back. (At some point it's going to my sister's house, so they can use it rather than their pickup truck when it's their turn to take her places.)

She's asked literally 50-60 times for me to bring the car back. She'd stopped for a while, but today we received no fewer than six phone calls from her, insisting I bring back the car. Each time she does, we explain why we aren't doing that. Some of the explanations are less patient than others. It is really getting on our nerves.

I didn't get enough sleep last night, and this evening I conked out mid-way through Kraken: Tentacles of the Deep. Guess we'll wait 'til another day to learn if the ancient Greek opal lost off the coast of British Columbia (and guarded by a humongous killer squid) can be secured in time to salvage the academic reputation of the hot blonde marine archaeologist.
