Forty years ago today

I watched Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon, on the TV at my grandparents' house in Lebanon, Oregon. It was during a three-week stay with them for me and my sister, as my parents were on their once-in-a-lifetime trip to Ireland.

Of course, since I was 7 years old, the idea of humans setting foot on the moon didn't seem all that remarkable. What puts it all into perspective is watching Apollo 13 and realizing that they got there with 1969 technology. Wow.
