Auto repair, the easy way

My late step-dad's old Volvo, which became our backup car when he got to be too old to drive it, has been an inert piece of metal parked on the street for at least two years now. Finally, on Tuesday, a meter maid or cop came along and flagged it (and, I'm told, every other vehicle parked on our street). A big red sticker: Move this car within 72 hours or it will be towed.

B. and I had tried to jump-start it maybe a year ago, without even a click. Today, though, I called AAA, and they sent over a truck with a heavy-duty charger. The guy hooked up the cables, revved up his engine, and... voilà, now we have another functioning vehicle. I even got around to putting the registration stickers on.

Kind of funny -- after all this time, one phone call and the problem is solved.
