Today was the day of two social events, with me as something of an outsider in each. First I went to the Harvest commemorative lunch at D's school - maybe 5-10% of kids had parents come - and I had mashed potatoes with turkey gravy, a roll, and some slushy o.j. while watching lots and lots of children eat and talk.
Then this evening I went to a social gathering of women from the philosophy dept., to which I was of course an outsider, not being a philosopher. I had at least four good conversations and drank quite a bit of sparkling cider.
Now I want to claim the TV. And maybe eat popcorn. Yes.
