The second birthday party
Jul. 27th, 2008 10:24 pmToday: a flurry of housecleaning and pie-baking. I ended up doing only one pie today, but it was a good one. My mom did make it here, at the right time and with a gift too, and I had fun chatting with my sister. K&S's gifts included Batman and Joker action figures (with smiling, gentle faces). D. renamed them Bat Germ and Jerk Boy, and after various altercations, these two had a tea party and then got married. I suppose this was his ironic commentary on the action figure phenomenon.
Tomorrow I'll try to do all the work I would normally have done today, plus some wrapping. Other than making another pie, I'm nearly done with the exertion part of it. (How did my grandma manage to bake a pie every day during the Depression, along with teaching school and raising small children? More relevantly, why didn't I get her energy or stamina?)
