Last day of spring term!
Jun. 6th, 2008 09:44 pmToday I got to meet with Carol Dweck, a very well known social psychologist from Stanford, whose work on implicit theories I'm adapting for some of my own work. She gave me detailed input on my draft survey items, which was very helpful! Then, since it's basically the last day of the term for me, I bought lunch and took it up to Hendricks Park and ate in my car in the rhododendron garden (it was raining), then went on a short walk in the forest (when the rain stopped).
Then we had our department's end of the year party, following a big lecture by Dweck on "Mindsets, Motivation, and Achievement." ( Abstract of the talk. ) At the party, we had finger food and drinks in the museum. I was at a table with G (my advisor), AT (my fellow advisee), and two other faculty members, which was fun, conversation-wise.
