Annual Meeting
Mar. 19th, 2008 09:56 pmToday was the annual corporate meeting of my employer, which is always lively and fun. The two guys behind me in the food-and-entrance line both ended up with door prizes, so I came close! I did get a nice etched picture frame, as an award for 15 years of service. (Time flies!)
The two speeches were fine, and one was illustrated with photos of some of the scientists from 30 years ago. As they were a bit counterculture, this was pretty entertaining. The Albuquerque office had made a short sitcom for us, which was really funny. The best part of the live skit, imo, was Ed F. as "Dr. X," a scientist from our future. He had his long curly ponytail arranged as a 10" cone on his head!
Meanwhile, I have to sign D. up for childcare at his school two afternoons a week so I can take a spring term class. It's frustrating that the only option is just tolerable rather than likely to be fun for him (the two other boys his age are pretty obnoxious), but I guess it's only ~20 afternoons altogether. I feel guilty, though - all of our previous childcare arrangements sounded much more fun.
