Happy birthday to R., an auspicious day for completing my big paper

We had lots of fun for R's birthday. His presents included a whole bunch of CDs, a cut and polished ammonite, and a big bottle of a Belgian ale. He worked a bit in the morning, then came home for lunch with me at our neighborhood tavern (quesadillas) and three rounds of pool, then while I was on campus he took D. to chess club and afterwards to Ben & Jerry's for "fish food" ice cream. Dinner was from Chef's Kitchen, our neighborhood Swiss-PNW restaurant: We split an order of gnocchi, then he had a Cajun mahi mahi dish, and I had wild mushroom risotto. Dessert was chocolate cheesecake, and we all three watched Star Wars Episode 1 together.

Meanwhile, I got my FYP paper submitted to my committee! It's 50 pages long with 87 references, which was probably excessive, but it's got all my Phase 2 plans in it too.
