I took a lot of fall color pictures today but don't have the energy to post them. R's parents aren't able to visit this weekend after all, which is quite unfortunate since it's because his dad has a health problem, but at least we now don't have to knock ourselves out cleaning between now and then.
Funny quotes:
D, when I offered to read him the original Pooh stories: "There's a Winnie-the-Pooh chapter book? That's crazy!"
And from Smallwood & Schooler (2006): "According to ironic process theory (Wegner, 1994), attempts to control awareness create conditions in which the intentional control of attention is undermined, leading in turn to an increase in mind-wandering episodes."
In other words, if you try not to daydream, you will, and this thrilling finding somehow deserves the name "ironic process theory."
