Duckpond, duck, needs, crows
Jun. 8th, 2007 09:32 pmAccording to a campus e-mail, the millrace footbridge at Onyx is going to be closed for three months and replaced, so I extended my library trip to get a look before it's gone. The trees ringing the adjacent duckpond are way overgrown:

In the afternoon, I read all of The Needs of Strangers, by Michael Ignatieff, as recommended by
owl_of_minerva. He seems to have a deeper understanding of needs than Ivan Illich (radical) or Arthur Okun (economist), though I haven't read their books in 20 years, so who knows. I got a sunburn while reading, and later I spent 10-15 minutes watching a pair of crows in a loud conversation that ended in quiet affection.
