The utterly trivial cold/sore throat I've had for the past week today morphed into something more unpleasant, and I didn't even drag myself out of bed 'til the afternoon, but I did make it to the office to go over my annual evaluation with JG at 2:30 p.m. This went fine, and since it was for the period of 9/1/05 through 8/31/06, I'll be getting quite a bit of retroactive increased pay. Next time I really should try to initiate my evaluation much closer to the end of the review period.

The other cool thing was the arrival of a beautiful basket of yarns and knitting needles from [livejournal.com profile] sapphira_altair! The blue and black yarns are especially gorgeous and soft. I saved the box to open with D., who has been eager to learn to knit "or maybe purl" for weeks now (and disappointed that he's not old enough for the knitting elective at his school this spring). What fun! [livejournal.com profile] sapphira_altair, you are so nice!

While I'm on the knitting topic - check out the really cool calendar of 365 stitches I bought a couple weeks ago. I've been having fun trying out the ones for which I know how to follow the instructions. I'm not yet at the stage where knitting is relaxing, but at least it's engaging.

I love this. I'm reading a book I bought years ago, and tucked inside, I find a bookmark from a store whose existence I had entirely forgotten. This time it's "Gray's Book Company, 1821 Solano Avenue, Berkeley, California 94707." Now I can picture the store, a little bit. Google knows nothing of it, though, and thinks the address belongs to a succession of beauty salons. I bet Pegasus put Gray's out of business.
