Mutterings, offset by positives
Feb. 16th, 2007 08:36 pmWell, this morning I watched Pay It Forward while reading two manuscripts, and I was so annoyed with the ending. Later I saw that reviewers agreed. One called it cheaply manipulative, and the NYT went so far as "stooping to gratuitous spiritual pornography." Bleh.
Another bleh: I've been healthy for what, a day and a half? And now I'm coming down with a cold. What a nuisance - tomorrow is the Asian Celebration, and Monday I give an in-class presentation. At least it's not the pneumonia and influenza that have shut down our childcare for Monday.
I'd complain about the manuscripts, too, if it weren't inappropriate, heh.
Good things: narrowing down my hypotheses for my FYP, watching D. play some Kingdom Hearts, eating tasty leftover shrimp and pasta, learning a bit more about Kant's theory of imagination. (If anyone knows about the major philosophers and imagination, please direct me to useful sources.) Oh, and admiring the fog in the forested hills, one of my favorite scenes of nature.
Looking south on Fox Hollow. If the fog weren't there, you could see Spencer Butte, like my icon. Most of the conifers are douglas-firs, except for the ponderosa pines on the right; check out the lichens on all the deciduous trees:
