Channel 276, etc.
Sep. 1st, 2005 09:42 pmI have a new thing on TV, History Channel International, channel 276. In the last two weeks I've watched or taped shows on ancient Japan, Asian religions, ancient India, Etruscans, Petra, the Great Wall, the battle of Salamis, British history, the Minoans, the Canadian Rockies, Scottish castles, the medieval papacy, and probably other things not coming to mind. Fun!
Speaking of TV, there's a new HBO series, "Rome." I was skeptical about this, but finally watched the first episode yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see familiar British names in the credits. Like Ciaran Hinds, who was in Persuasion, James Purefoy from Vanity Fair, and a special favorite, Polly Walker, who was in Emma and Enchanted April. Well, wasn't I surprised to see Ms. Walker entirely and rather vigorously au naturel! The show was also rather gory. I don't yet dislike it, but I don't yet like it either. We'll see.
