Bread and cheeses, or circuses
Jul. 20th, 2005 11:01 pmSurprisingly, I didn't gain weight during my vacation -- I even lost a pound -- despite nearly every meal for a week being some variant of "bread and cheese." Breads and cheeses are good, but I liked having salad for dinner the last two days!
Today I finished Scandal Takes a Holiday, which is the most recently published Marcus Didius Falco mystery by Lindsey Davis. (She has another that's out in hardcover in Britain, but I wait to read them 'til they're in British paperback, which I buy from a Canadian bookseller.) It was entertaining -- I think I enjoyed it a bit more than the last one or two, and there were a few elements I particularly welcomed, though there was also one aspect of one happening that irked me. Can't go into details here 'til
fractal9091 has finished it. These are very fun books, especially for the continuing characters, the settings, and our narrator Falco's strong sense of irony.
