On Beatrix Potter

Linda Lear, who wrote the definitive biography of Rachel Carson, posted today on the H-Net environmental history list, and I made so bold as to e-mail her directly, asking if she knew yet when her Beatrix Potter biography was coming out. (Somewhere I'd heard January 2005, but that didn't happen.) She wrote back! She said it looks like spring 2007. This should be very interesting. I'd had sentimental impressions of Beatrix Potter's writing until reading them for D., and now I can say that they are actually quite strange.
