Neighbors in the news
Jun. 1st, 2005 02:15 pmEugene is kind of a small town, even with 200K people in the metro area. When the Entree section of the Register-Guard started its regular profiles of local amateur cooks a few years back, the first person profiled was my coworker Liz Eakin, and this week it's my neighbor Katy Brundan. We first met her just before D. was born, when she would walk our past house every day on her way to the store, wheeling her newborn Joey in his stroller. We love her accent (she's from Surrey). Since R. and I are (friendly) introverts, our relationship with their family is still in the "brief chats when we encounter each other on walks, and mutual trick-or-treating" stage, but I do like her.
The newspaper profile of Katy: the challenges of cooking English food in Oregon, and recipes for spinach tart, apple galette, and traditional scones
Her husband Jon's webpage (he's a math prof., a very quiet fellow, but I see he won the UO's outstanding teaching award two years ago)
