And yet again

E-mail this morning from Dan, entitled, "Mama Nutria and the six kids":

"I spoke with Rita at Willamette Wildlife Rehab this morning. After describing the situation of our resident Nutria (injured paw but eating, moving around and caring for her young), she recommended leaving her be. If we observe that she is not eating or getting around well, we should call them back. Rita mentioned that Nutria like apple slices, but not to put them near the nest."

Piano preparations

When my grandma (as mentioned Wednesday) retired from Crowfoot School, they gave her her classroom piano, and she told me as soon I had a place to keep it, it was mine. So when I was 18, I went with friends with a pickup truck, and we hauled it back to my mom's house and put it in my bedroom there for storage. Time passed, and in 1992 we moved back to Oregon, but my sister now had my mom's house and was markedly unenthusiastic about the disruption that would be caused by the removal of the piano. However, she's finally gotten used to the idea, and now wants the piano gone ASAP. (Hurray!)

Of course, there's really no room in this house for a piano, but today I managed to make some anyway, in the master bedroom. I packed up years' worth of Scandinavian philatelic auction catalogs and emptied and moved a small cabinet, then I moved the dresser to where the cabinet had been, and the vanity to where the dresser had been, and the piano can go where the vanity had been. I did all this moving while listening to a CD from the library, "Beyond the Shadows" by Golden Bough, a Celtic band recommended by liadanlj. (Oh, speaking of music, my new Brocelïande CD arrived today!)
