A vaguely Mesozoic atmosphere
Nov. 24th, 2004 08:49 pmWhen I got to work, JG was "shopping" for a kitten and a bunny at our local animal shelter's website. We were looking at the various candidates and talking about her plans when through her window something caught my eye: a pterodactyl-like creature flapping its wings as it flew over the parking lot and landed on a winter-bare tree overlooking the millrace. A great blue heron, JG said. She's seen it every day this week. I wonder if there are fish in the millrace. I hope it's there next week.
Happy birthday to Trisha! Tomorrow will be a long day. First I get up at least half an hour earlier than normal to finish assembling the apple pie(s). Then I prepare a full meal and clean off the dining table, and around 12:30 p.m. we eat and watch Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. With luck, D. will nap afterwards, and then at 6 p.m. we drive to my mom's and eat another big dinner. Much easier if I hadn't had a stomach virus the past eight days. Also I find I'm craving baby bok choi with shiitakes and hot chili oil, which obviously has to wait 'til Friday.
Quote of the day: After informing me that seeds are all poisonous, D. announced, "There's no seeds in m&m's."
