Okay, considerably more relaxed, for the moment. Doing almost nothing but work and reading does have its merits. Let's see. Arnold has been moved back to the nursing home, successfully. D. had me get out his wading pool after his nap, though of course it was much too cold to play in, but he's at the age where the novelty of having it set up is thrill enough. K. and I have concluded that there's no need to worry immediately about our mom's memory. I also mowed after breakfast and went on a short walk after dinner, and finally finished Muir's Travels in Alaska. I've now read pretty much all of his books.
I also finished Jhereg, which was entertaining. It reminded me a lot of the Falco novels I love so much, but a bit edgier, with a fantasy setting and more politics. The cover blurb certainly misadvertised: "A young man bound for adventure needs a faithful reptile companion!" Sure, that was true for a chapter, but the rest of the book had our hero well established in his career and not "bound for" any new place; from the blurb, one would have thought it was a conventional quest-fantasy and not a mystery/detective story.
