J. went up to Portland to get his brother and sister-in-law, who had been enjoying the city since Tuesday. They went to visit the house where his 100-year-old grandma had grown up, and the current owner (only the second the house has had) let them tour it and photograph it. Then they went to Silver Falls State Park and hiked for 7.5 miles to see many of the waterfalls there, and then they arrived here at 9:45 p.m. I think they're all going to the coast tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I did some cleaning, helped the kids get coordinated with a volunteer activity for Monday, and started reading a Trish Maguire mystery.
