As it happens, I did not submit that manuscript today, but it is _so_ close. In fact, it’s entirely ready except for the running head, where I’m supposed to reduce my title to 50 characters or less, and that’s surprisingly difficult for this one. So I’m waiting for input from JG, who naturally had better things to do today than respond to e-mail, this being Sunday and all. Then I can submit it tomorrow. Making the public commitment here helped me focus, so I’ll probably do it again.
We also saw Guardians of the Galaxy. The movie was a lot of fun, but I thought it was interesting that the sapient raccoon guy seemed less ridiculous to me than the villain, whose makeup just looked silly to me. Of course, they probably gave the raccoon a whole lot more care and attention. I also thought it was interesting that the raccoon and plant characters seemed more plausible to me than the cassette tape lasting for 26 years – even though I in fact own several cassette tapes that are older than that, but I sure don’t play them every day.
