Pesky punctuation

I’m reading the first novel by D’s week #2 mentor, Tom Evans. Strings on a Shadow Puppet is mostly well written, with interesting characters in a very interesting situation. Trouble is, there are so many punctuation errors and minor typos (mostly an inconsistency in spelling names) that I get bogged down and distracted very quickly. It’s a case where my reasonably well honed copyediting skills are definitely a liability – I’m trained to notice and stop when I spot these things. So I do. Again and again, several times on almost every page. And since it’s already published, there’s nothing I can do for closure. Bah. Need to be able to switch this off. I keep trying...
