Word for the day: "hodological"
From the Greek hodos, meaning a road or journey, this word was coined fairly recently (perhaps by Kurt Lewin?) and refers to the study of pathways, in several disciplines, as in the study of interconnected ideas (philosophy) or the study of brain cell interconnection (physiology). Lewin's notion of "hodological space" let him use vectors and other terms from geometry to represent mental experiences like drives and needs. (I think. I'm only on chapter two of Lewin's Field Theory in Social Science.)
This afternoon I got to see Bend It Like Beckham, which was as fun as I expected, and I can hardly wait to see it again. It was followed on the channel by an absolutely abyssmal Weird Al movie, UHF, which did have a few funny bits, like a commercial for "Gandhi II," a violent action movie.
