Summer wildflowers

After dinner, I went on a long walk (78°F and a warm breeze). I wondered, would there be any wildflowers in the meadow by Edgewood school, beyond the inevitable vetch and Queen Anne's lace? And there were - a surprising number of rich, purple blossoms of blue-eyed grass poking up through the dried, brown grasses, and a plum-colored prunella, much bigger than the ones that grow in my lawn. I walked further, to Fox Hollow, because the swaying douglas-firs were making such inviting, sighing music. On the way back, I sniffed a miniature rose that smelled like raspberries. Yay, summer.
