Tower of Druaga

eve_primeJ. and I have been watching an anime series called Tower of Druaga, which is based on an old Japanese arcade game, but set 60 years after the game’s conclusion. One quirk of the series is that it occasionally integrates video game elements. Two episodes ago, it even had our hero enter the original tower, whereupon the control of his body was taken over by his friend outside, who started playing him like a video game character, with their other companion reading aloud the game walk-through to guide him through each of the floors of the tower, while others sat around getting snacks from vending machines.
We looked up the original video game online and learned that it had been extremely popular in Japan but that Americans hate it, considering it stupid and tiresome. We also found that it was available in a CD bundle for Playstation, so we spent $4.23 including shipping and bought ourselves a copy.
Tonight we’re going to watch the final two episodes of the show, and in honor of that, we got out the Playstation and tried out the game. It really is abysmal, so we are amused.
